Science

Science is mandatory for all students from Year 7 to Year 10.

Trở nên dễ thươngScience 7-10 provides a way of inquiring about the world around us. It explores evidence and investigates ways to discover, develop and produce solutions to real-world problems. Science emphasises the skills for working scientifically, as well as critical and creative thinking to address scientific issues.

In Years 11 and 12, students can choose from different science disciplines, including:

  • Biology
  • Chemistry
  • Earth and Environmental Science
  • Investigating Science
  • Physics.

Trở nên dễ thươngIn Year 12, students who are studying at least one other science subject may also choose to study Science Extension.

Science is the endeavour for knowledge.

Through learning science at Cammeraygal, students are able to develop critical thinking, problem solving, questioning, and scientific literacy skills.

Our goal is to develop our students into young adults with the ability to understand core scientific issues facing them, and make decisions based on their scientific understanding.

Students have the unique opportunity at Cammeraygal to learn from professional researchers in Chemistry, Biology, and Physics through, contextualised collaborative problem/project based learning with a focus on real world application. The teaching staff are devoted to enabling all students to achieve curriculum outcomes through differentiation and scaffolding of tasks to suit a range of student abilities, from helping students in need through to extending high achievers with personal research projects.

Cammeraygal also offers an extra-curricula science club for students seeking to extend their scientific knowledge. This club presents students with a unique opportunity to apply the skills they have learnt to tackle issues surrounding the school, and compete in state wide science competitions in robotics and engineering.
